Excellence in Leadership

Fiscal Responsibility

As your School Board Trustee, I am committed to providing excellent leadership of our teacher, students and the community.  For a year I attended school board meetings, spoke and voiced my questions and concerns.  I got NO response from the current board.  Accountability and transparency of district policies should be clearly conveyed to our community.

Welcoming and receiving community involvement is said to be important by the current board however it seems their efforts to do so are just talk.  Most districts adopted a "Trustee Area" to give a voice to neighborhoods instead of HB as a whole.  Our school board was against this change and was sued.  This decision cost the Taxpayers $600,000 in attorneys fees + what we paid district attorneys to fight and then implement this change. As a board member my input could have mitigated this lawsuit. My platform is all about community involvment.

Focus on Educational Outcomes

Enabling a Collaborative Environment

Teachers are focused on ecucational outcomes, but there are systemic challenges and external pressures that can diver them away from this goal. Here are some issues that I would like to look into.

1. Administrative Burdens

Reducing administrative tasks, would allow teachers to focus more on teaching and lesson planning.

2. Lack of Appropriate Professional Development

Teachers and Administrators need a common goal of what is important for students mental wellness in order to best achieve academic growth for all our students.

In doing the work for this campaign, I have already collaborated with community members with whom I've shared my story. They have already embraced my passion for our high schools, and found ways they can help or be helped. The bank manager hugged me. My physical therapist is telling his neighbors. My neighbors are putting up signs. This is what I love to do, connect and solve problems to improve communication in our neighborhoods.  It feels good to be seen, heard and respected.

Lets CORRAL Our Efforts For ALL  Students

My Story

As a teacher, parent and active community member of Huntington Beach, California, I am excited to announce my candidacy for school board member at HBUHSD.  With a master's degree in education administration and over 20 years of experience as a public school teacher which included, reading specialist for Long Beach Unified School District as well as teacher in our very own adult school HBAS.I am passionate about ensuring the best possible outcomes for our students.  I have lived in Huntington Beach since 1997 and my children graduated from Huntington Beach High School.

For the past year, I have regularly attended school board meetings, gaining valuable insights into our educational system.  This experience highlighted the need for transparency, accountability, and active community involvement.  The recent lawsuit that cost the district over $600,000 in attorney fees underscores the necessity for better governance.  As a resident of Trustee Area 3, represented for the first time,  I am committed to holding our leaders accountable and fostering an environment where every voice is heard.

My goal is to increase community participation, creating opportunities for parents, teachers, and residents to engage in meaningful dialogue and decision-making processes.  Let's Corral Our Efforts and make a Positive Difference for all HBUHSD schools, including Coast, Valley Vista, and HBAS.  Vote LEEANN CORRAL for HBUHSD Trustee Area 3.  Together, we'll round up a brighter future for our schools!
